Celebrating the Professionals Who Keep Us Moving

September is a great opportunity to recognize the professional drivers who make our work possible every day. The hours spent away from home, the changing road conditions, the careful handling of equipment and freight, and the commitment to delivering safely all deserve appreciation. Our drivers do far more than move loads from one place to another—they keep businesses supplied, customers moving forward, and communities connected. Thank you for the pride, patience, and professionalism you bring to the job. We appreciate the work you do and the people you are.

Getting Ready for Winter

Colder weather is approaching, which means now is the time to prepare rather than react. Before heading into winter conditions, make sure your truck and trailer are ready for the season. Check tires, lights, wipers, washer fluid, heaters, and other essential equipment, and keep appropriate cold-weather supplies in the cab.
Allow extra time for changing conditions, monitor weather and road reports, and adjust plans when needed. No load or schedule is more important than getting home safely. If conditions become unsafe, communicate with dispatch and make safety the priority.

Chains and Cold-Weather Supplies

Drivers traveling through western states should confirm they have the required chains and know the applicable chain laws for their routes. Requirements can vary by state and may change with conditions, so plan ahead and check current regulations before entering mountain corridors.
Do not wait until you are already on the road to discover that equipment is missing or unsuitable. If you need chains or have questions about winter supplies, reach out through the appropriate company channels before your trip.

Small Inspections Make a Big Difference

A thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself, your equipment, your freight, and everyone sharing the road.
Look carefully for tire concerns, lighting issues, loose securement, fluid leaks, and anything else that could become a larger problem down the road. Report defects promptly and do not ignore a small concern just because the truck is still moving. Consistent inspections help prevent avoidable breakdowns, improve reliability, and reinforce the professionalism our customers expect.

Employee Ownership in Action

Being employee-owned means each of us has a stake in the success of Long Haul Trucking. The way we communicate, care for equipment, support one another, and serve our customers all contributes to the company we are building together. Every role matters, and the daily decisions we make can strengthen our reputation as a dependable transportation partner and a place where professional people can build a career. Thank you for taking ownership of your work and helping make LHT stronger.
