As an employee-owned company, we understand that our drivers aren’t simply part of the team, they are owners of the team. Whether you are an Employee Owner driving one of our company trucks or an Owner Operator running your own equipment, your commitment, professionalism and dedication are a huge part of what makes Long Haul Trucking who we are.

Driver Appreciation Month is also the perfect time to remember that nothing we accomplish is more important than getting every driver home safely.

As we move into fall, conditions on the road can change quickly. Shorter daylight hours, changing weather, wet roads, fog, wildlife activity and increased agricultural traffic can all create additional challenges.
A few reminders as we head into the fall driving season:
• Slow down when conditions change. Give yourself additional time and stopping distance when roads are wet or visibility is reduced.
• Watch your surroundings. Don’t let familiarity with a route lead to complacency.
• Be mindful in work zones and around agricultural equipment. Fall brings increased farm traffic across many of the areas we travel.
• Give yourself room. Proper following distance provides valuable time to react when something unexpected happens.
• Don’t sacrifice safety for an appointment. A late delivery can be worked through. An accident cannot.
• Take care of yourself. Fatigue management is just as important as vehicle maintenance and safe driving habits.
Our goal is simple: every driver leaves safely, performs safely and makes it home safely.
That’s what being an elite professional driver is all about.

School Is Starting – Please Stay Alert

With the new school year starting, please be extra alert and cautious while driving, especially during morning and afternoon school hours. Watch closely for school buses, children at bus stops, students walking or biking, and increased traffic around schools and neighborhoods. Be prepared for frequent stops and remember to obey all school bus stop-arm laws and reduced speed limits in school zones. Children can be unpredictable and may enter the roadway unexpectedly, so slow down, leave extra following distance, eliminate distractions, and always be prepared to stop. A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference—please stay alert and help keep our kids safe.
