Anthony Book Long Haul Trucking

Safety is a staple at Long Haul Trucking and never a subject that we take lightly.  Our team is proud to have a fleet of folks who take pride in doing the little things right to keep everyone safe and the wheels turning!   We are excited to announce that safety will be holding a drawing on Wednesday, June 15 for all drivers who receive a violation free inspection during the 2017 CVSA’s International Roadcheck. International Roadcheck is a 72-hour period when approximately 10,000 CVSA-certified local, state, provincial and federal inspectors in jurisdictions across North America perform truck and bus inspections.  Each year, special emphasis is placed on a specific category of violations. The special emphasis for International Roadcheck 2017 is cargo securement.  Inspectors will primarily be conducting the Standard Level I Inspection with an emphasis on load securement, tie-down inspections and truck equipment (securement including tarps, dunnage, securement equipment, etc.).  Furthermore, we encourage all drivers to stop by Long Haul office for a free securement inspection. Anyone who takes advantage of this free inspection between now and June 8th, 2017, will be entered in a drawing for one of five $100.00 gift cards. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Darrel Schwartz, Josh Hainstock, Rob Winter or anyone in the Safety department.

Trucker Path App
We understand how challenging it can be when out on the road in an unknown territory to find a safe place to park, get gas or even grab a bite to eat.  With a team of high quality drivers and first class individuals, it’s important for us to know that our folks on the road have tools that can help get them out of tight spots and into an area where they feel safe and comfortable to shut down for a quick break, or even the entire evening.  Trucker Path is an app for your phone that can be used to navigate a solution when met with one of these dilemmas.  Trucker Path has the ability of using GPS to direct you to the closest rest area, restaurant or available parking location with real time updates on if there’s space available and if it’s a safe area to shut down.  Trucker Path can be most useful when you are in an unfamiliar area and don’t have a usual location that you frequent or know if it is acceptable for a night’s stay. A few of the other benefits that the app helps identify on the road is gas stations and their current prices, truck washes, weigh stations and navigation.  Trucker Path is a great tool to use when on the road in order to stay safe and knowledgeable of the area you’re in!

The Bottom Line
Monthly tips that will keep our money in our wallets, not paying fines!
With the 2017 CVSA’s International Roadcheck approaching, we would like to take a moment and acknowledge the importance of proper load securement.  Load securement is important for various reasons, most importantly safety for our drivers and the pedestrians we share the road with.  Always remember to follow our securement principle of what’s regulated plus one, in order to stay ahead of the game and away from the risk of a hard load shift or even worse a spill.  We must always work with our customers when picking up a shipment in order to ensure that the commodity is strapped down to their liking and in a way that will prevent any issues while moving down the road.  With heightened awareness on load securement for the 2017 CVSA’s, now is a great time to make sure we’re always doing the little things right from a securement stand point in order to remain free of accidents, or a citation during an inspection.
